Transom: There are large steps giving easy access to the water with a recessed fold away stainless steal ladder. There is full access to engine compartments through deck hatches in this area.

So when I visited Gold Coast catamaran manufacturer Montebello Yachts, a relative newcomer to the market, to test their 12.5 m power catamaran, the first question I put to Managing Director Gary Zamparutti was how he came to name his company. Perhaps understandably the eponymous route wasn’t an option, but why Montebello?
