Based in the heart of Australia’s boat building industry on the Gold Coast, Montebello commenced building prestige power catamarans in January 2008. Montebello’s 12.5m power catamaran will target the largest market segment of the luxury cruiser market focusing on the principals of “value for money”, fuel economy, overall boating performance and quality of finish. Rising fuel prices are resulting in a significant trend away from the traditional monohull to the modern fuel efficient light weight power catamaran.
Montebello has also commissioned the design of a 12.5m sailing catamaran which commenced production in late 2008. The sailing catamaran will be purpose built to meet the Australian and international bareboat charter markets offering high returns for owners with it’s 4 ensuited cabin layout. The sailing catamaran will also include an “owners” version which will specifically meet individual owner’s requirements and will include a larger rig and therefore higher performance as required.
Montebello’s catamarans are designed by the world renowned naval architect Roger Hill who has designed boats for 30 years in his native New Zealand as well as overseas in Annapolis in the USA with Bruce Farr and in Lymington in UK with Rob Humphries. Roger has specialized in the design and construction of power and sailing catamarans for the past 15 years. Roger Hill's website: www.powercatsnz.com
